I'll share my reasons as to why I gave this book such a high rating, the world. I loved the faeries in this book, they're mean, conniving, and treacherous and that's what I'm here for. I didn't like the characters, or the plot, just the twists lol. Yep you read that right. I've never read a book like this before where there are unlikable characters but I still like the story.

Jude, the protagonist in this story is a human is a faery world and she is trying to prove that she is no fragile human, she can face anything thrown at her and she goes to great lengths to prove that. the twists and turns of this story are seriously everything. Prince Cardan is a cruel spoiled royal brat and not even for a second is this story a romance novel. With Jude and Cardan it's like who hates who the most and who could do the most harm. One of the cruelest aspects of this novel is the fact that in Jude and her sister were made to live with their other sister's father who killed her parents. I thought that was absolutely insane and for a child to go through that it had to have been so traumatizing.

For a book named after a Prince, it's not in his perspective the story is more about Jude. This book has a trigger warning for bullying so intense that it's the worst bullying I've ever read about. I kept waiting for the book to get better and it did when the intense bullying stopped. I don't have a favorite character and the plot is ok as well but what keeps me reading the series is the magical world building and the political intrigue. I also love that the books are so short but filled with such a huge stories. I have to say that Holly Black is the Queen of faeries and this book as well as The Wicked King have gotten me to read many of her other books.

I really loved this book not only because of the story but because it got me out of a paranormal funk. For about 10 months I haven't been able to read anything paranormal except about angels and it's only been like 2 books, so this book showed me that I can read this genre again and it makes me so excited. 

The story definitely caught my eye in the beginning and kept my attention the entire time. I liked what I was reading and wanted to know more about the world. I liked how the story wasn't complicated because sometimes there's so much going on that you can't remember half of it and I'm happy to say that this one was easy to keep up with. 

I loved the characters, Cassiel, Gabriel's brother was absolutely hilarious, I loved him he was my favorite character. He was a bad boy and charmed women's pants off but he was beautiful so we'll forgive him, lol. He was a fallen angel which meant that he wasn't in heaven and that he did naughty things. Some parts where in his POV and I thought that was cool. He was so entertaining and funny.

Cassiel:

"Okay, you're beaming at her. Will you snap out of it?"

"Hey thanks for turning me into a goddamn commentator here. You caught that she's seeing you, right?"

"Have fun with the cleanup! Oh, and by the way: you're plunging us face first into some hilarious times. Thanks, bro." 

That was at the scene of the car accident where Gaia was the only survivor because Gabriel saved her from dying. He couldn't let her die. Angels were meant to protect so humans couldn't see them but somehow she could see him everywhere she went after that day. A decision that Cassiel did not agree with at all, he liked his life; doing whatever he wanted without drawing attention to himself from anyone above. So he knew that Gabriel's decision was going to be an epic fail and threaten everything he's worked for. That was just one of the hilarious scenes that I loved. 

I really loved the dynamic in this book, nothing seemed forced, everything just blended together. One thing that got me thinking that wasn't necessary was Cassiel kept on flirting and using his powers on his brother's girl. That's not cool if he weren't playing around about it. It wasn't really serious but I don't think it did anything to better the story. Gaia, that poor girl didn't know what was happening to her when he would put his charm on her, but she figured it out lol. She was also a good character, she didn't stand out to me because I was so stuck on Cassiel lol. Overall I'm glad I read this book because it got me out of my funk and I was able to really enjoy it. So I'm not a lost cause after all lol. I'm looking forward to the next book which already came out. I recommend this series to any NA/Paranormal/Fantasy lover.

I tasted her lower lip again and abruptly dipped my tongue into her mouth. Then just as quickly retreated. “The human body is an instrument. Know how to master it… and well…” I let my voice drop as I moved my hands slowly to her shoulders and tugged her body flush against mine. Our mouths met softly at first. I deepened the kiss, memorizing her taste, knowing I wouldn’t experience a kiss like this again in my lifetime. The way her scent, her soft moans destroyed my body, wrecked me from the deepest part of me, was nothing short of life-altering.

And I’d like to think I’d kissed a lot of women.

I’d studied the psychology of sexuality.

I was an expert in pleasure.

But she was schooling me, absolutely wreaking havoc on every logical thought as her soft whimper cascaded over me. Blood surged through my body as it tightened with awareness at her proximity.

She pulled back, her lips swollen. “That was… not a good enough warning.”

Laughing softly, I cupped the back of her head and gently drew it toward mine and kissed her again, angling my lips differently, searching her, consuming her, drawing pleasure from her lips as if it was my life goal to discover every single secret she owned.

Her arms wrapped around my neck. She was shy; she didn’t push against me, didn’t wrap her legs around me or moan into my mouth like I was having sex with her rather than kissing her.

My hands moved down her corset to her hips, and I lifted her into the air and walked her backward toward the brick wall. The whole time, our masks collided. In frustration, I ripped hers off, then mine. The shadows of moonlight hid our faces as I kissed her harder, losing myself in her.

Her nails dug at the back of my neck as she jerked my head harder. Groaning, I let her fall to the ground as I placed my hands on the brick wall to keep myself from ripping the dress from her body.

Shouting started from the ballroom.

“Ten, nine…!”

“Eight,” I whispered against her mouth. “Seven.”

“Six.” She sighed, her breathing labored as her tongue found mine again. “Five.”

“Four, three.” I pulled back and trailed kisses down her neck.

“Two.”

We broke apart, both breathing heavy. “One.”

People burst out onto the balcony as the fireworks started, lighting up the sky. And our faces.

And the only thing I could say as she gasped in horror was “Oh, shit.”

This series has really touched my heart from the first book to this one. And I have to say that I'm glad to have finally gotten to know Lisa's story. It's heart breaking, it's painful, and an incredible read. Since Ruin, the first book in this series, I have been so touched by Rachel's writing, it's fantastic.  

This story is all about Lisa hiding and running away from her past. She has secrets, demons, and ghosts to deal with, so she hides behind a new-ish identity. But how long can demons stay buried, how long is it going to take for her secrets to surface, and who's ghost is coming back to haunt her?  

In comes in Tristan, brother to Taylor. He pretends to be a teacher at Lisa's school to get close to her and to find out the truth about his brother's suicide. He knows that Lisa was his brother's girlfriend and that she knows what happened to Taylor, what drove him to insanity. Tristan will stop at nothing until he finds out what happened, but can he fight the pull the Lisa has towards him, or does he give up to his immense attraction towards her? 

Our lives are made up of memories, struggles, triumphs, and it is our choice to embrace them or not, but they still shape us and mold us to who we are in the present and the future. 

Regret. Darkness. Manipulation. Misled. Despair. That describes Lisa's past. She'd love to forget what happened in her past, forget the memories, the moments, and all the emotions that come along with remembering. This girl has been to hell and back, all because she was young and naive. This book really touched my heart because it is about a person that just wanted to be loved, appreciated, and most of all accepted. And she went to the ultimate extremes to achieve all that, at the cost of her own dignity. Lisa really did do everything she could to keep someone happy and in turn, it would make her secure in the relationship. I understood her and all her struggles because we all want to be loved and accepted for who we are, but she trusted the wrong person and got burned for it. So she had to live in her own personal hell. This story is a perfect example of one event, one moment that can change your life forever. Can Lisa be saved or will she save herself?

One of my favorite things about the structure of this book was that it was told in multiple points of view, Lisa's, Taylor in his journal entries, and Tristan. The journal aspect was quite new for me, I hadn't read anything like that before so I thought that was unique and interesting. The journal showed how insane and cruel Taylor really was. He was a manipulator to the extreme, had a god complex, and thought that everyone was beneath him. How he wanted to mold and perfect Lisa into his personal doll, he also wanted to corrupt her and make her just as damaged as he was. This guy was the ultimate evil but disguised himself as the perfect boyfriend. 

Lisa's relationship with Taylor was a horrible experience for her that ruined her for any other guy. But her relationship with Tristan was beautiful, he showed her her worth, she got her confidence back, and most importantly that her past didn't define her. That is the most important lesson of all, the past can only be accepted and once you've done that, let it go cause it doesn't have the power to control or hurt you anymore.   

Rachel's Ruin series has been heart wrenching, inspirational, beautiful, and with the perfect amount of humor. I was so happy to have seen Wes and Gabe from the other books in the series, I think that they were so good for Lisa to be around, they protected and comforted her in her worse times. It was great to see how it all tied together in the end. The plot, the writing, and the characters were absolutely phenomenal, in true Rachel fashion. I can't get enough of her books. Another awesome read by her and it can not be missed.

“Everything about him told me to stay away” 

This book starts off with Riley witnessing the 'Jax Effect' as she called it, where women fall all over themselves for him, want him, and are practically hypnotized by his presence. Riley is with a friend at a bar and suddenly there is a band announced, the crowd goes crazy so she tries to go to the front row to see the band and what is causing all the ruckus. It was crazy getting to the front, there were women going hysterical, their boyfriends had to hold them back, a girl fainted, it was complete chaos in that bar. So when the band is done, since Jax noticed Riley he asked her to go backstage and I swear she almost got cut by all the crazy girls that were seething because they didn't get picked. When she gets backstage Riley finds out that Jax is an ass, even though he's a rock god, sex on a stick, beautiful specimen of a man. So she's not impressed. I swear the beginning had me so hooked that I wanted to read faster and faster to find out what happened next.

Riley just got her certification on accounting and her assignment is to be the tour accountant for a band called the Hitchcocks, which in turn is Jax's band, she didn't know it was them because at the bar they were announced as 'The Cocks' (clears throat.) Anyways... Riley has to fight against her desire to be with 'Rock Star Sex God' because she isn't there for that, she wants to be professional and it works for some time, until, well, it doesn't, and that's when the story gets even better. We start to see Jax's romantic side, where he is seriously swoon worthy, along with his look, hmm heaven.    

"W-What are you doing?!" - Riley

"Making us even. You wanted higher stakes. Here it is." - Jax

He ripped back the leather flaps, exposing himself. I cup my hand over my mouth.

He wasn't wearing any underwear.

I picked my jaw up off the floor and collected myself.

"This is the opposite of making us even. You humiliated and embarrassed me. But this isn't embarrassing you. It's more like you're flashing me!" - Riley

"Embarrassed or not, I'm naked. You weren't." - Jax

I loved that part, so funny, I can't believe that happened and neither did Riley cause she was in freaking shock, so was I and my jaw dropped too, lol. 

As the story progressed we saw a different side of Jax, he was sweeter and it was unexpected to Riley because he was this larger than life rock star, so she was pleasantly surprised. Getting near the end I was getting nervous because I didn't want things to turn dark and have a really surprising ending, there was still a kind of cliffhanger ending but some things get resolved and I was so grateful. The ending satisfied me and it was badass.

I've read the Wrecked series before I read this book and I love her writing, it's familiar to me and her writing flows so well and I'm completely drawn into her stories. I also recommend the Wrecked series, it's about a super hot fighter.

I'll start off by saying that this is one of my favorite series ever, I love this series and all the books I've read by Rachel, she's awesome. I was a very big fan of Chase in the previous books especially Elect because it was partially in his POV and it just broke my heart for Trace to choose Nixon because I didn't like him too much. I was rooting for Chase knowing that she would choose Nixon anyway. So I was very conflicted when Chase was getting with Mil, I knew how much he loved Trace and it was hard for me to watch him go through it all. I'm glad that he had a history with Mil, it helped me get used to them together.

The plot of this book was crazy, murder, secrets, and betrayal, you know, all the good stuff that happens in the mafia lol.

I loved that part, it was so funny. And no we can't forget that Nixon is the boss because he is bossy and has no problem shooting anybody and I wouldn't want him any other way. I didn't like him in the beginning like I said earlier because he was really mean to Trace in some parts of book 1 & 2, some of the things he said were like 'wow, I can't believe he said that, it was so wrong & mean.' 

In this book, I'm so glad that Chase has Mil because he deserves to be happy and for someone to love the shit out of him, he's such a great guy. I love how he fiercely protects Mil and wouldn't let anything happen to her. Their love was beautiful and epic, he would give his life for her and she would not have it, she would call him names for getting shot. And of course Rachel did not disappoint with a jaw dropping cliffhanger again, cause what are her mafia books without a crazy cliffhanger.

I can't get enough of this series, I love it and I can't wait for the continuation of this series, there are going to be 6 books so far and I'm so excited for them. I also read an eARC of Elicit which is Tex's story and I loved it, it was so good. I was dying to know what was going on with Tex and Mo cause we knew it was something, we just didn't know what. The more I read the more I love the series and can't wait for more.

I really liked this book and I must say that it was damn hot. I love Tracy's writing, I feel like I'm in the story, everything flows so well I forget I'm reading. Her stories are hot and sexy. I was blown away by these characters, they were so genuine, caring, and well rounded. I wanted to know them and help them figure out each other. 

Serena was damaged and I wanted to help her see that she that she's a worthy person. She had a hard life and it was hard for her to trust and let people in. I loved Kevin, he cared about Serena so much, he got to know her better than anyone else. He was so swoon worthy! He wanted to break through all of Serena's walls, he needed her to open up to him. But he was also a dirty talked and that was so sexy. I like how he didn't give up, he wanted her, he had conditions for being with her because he wanted all of her. I thought that was so beautiful, he helped her fight her fears so they can be happy with each other. 

I thought the plot was good, the suspense had me on edge. and kept me guessing until the end.

I liked that in this book we find out Chloe's secrets but in the next one we learn about Ethan's. The cliffhanger in this book blew me away, I had to continue to the next book, I had to find out what happened. 

Chloe was trying to rebuild her life after a traumatic event, on top of that, she felt like her family was against her and didn't have confidence in her. So she had no contact with them. My heart really broke for her when we find out what happened. She was determined to get over it and move on with her life. She is interning in Ethan's company, but things get complicated when he wants to be involved with her and she wants nothing to do with him. She knows how other people are going to look at her and treat her so she'd rather skip that embarrassment. But he changes her mind and burns through her resolve. It was fun to read they're rivalry over the blender, it was so funny. I also liked the belly chain that he got her, a symbol of possession on Ethan's part but nobody could see it so it wasn't that bold. When Ethan and Chloe were good together and steaming hot on the sheets. She couldn't help herself, he was too good to her.

I couldn't help but feel like there was something missing for me though. The writing was great, I love Tracy's writing but this story came up short for me. It also doesn't compare to FSOG in my opinion because Ethan was not a dom and the only thing he and Christian have in common is the abundance of money.

I've read 6 books in this series and I really love it.
I loved this story, the innocent girl and the damaged rock star. They can save each other from themselves. Alicia was in love with her long time best friend but he had no idea, and now he was getting married so she didn't know how to deal with it, so she takes up Dex's offer.

Dex enjoys being with her because she is different from the girls he's used to and it's refreshing for him. He has a dark past, even though he doesn't think he deserves Alicia, he doesn't want to let her go. I liked that he teased her for a few days, he wanted to keep her so he was making sure she really wanted him. And when they got together, oh boy was it hot. Alicia liked to plan everything but she took a chance on Dex, opened herself up to him and experience everything he had to offer.

I loved how they came together, learned about each other and grew stronger. Alicia was still stuck in the middle with her crush one one side and Dex in the other. She was confused and thought that things were moving too fast with her and Dex when he was ready to be all in with her. I'm happy with the outcome but a cliffhanger. I want to know more! I can't get enough of this series.
