April TBR, Currently Reading, March 2019 Wrap up

April TBR!

I started this book last year and it's about time I finished it, my copy is signed along with book 2 The Fates Divide when I met Veronica at a signing. Pictures on my instagram @bookishgirlreads

 

 This one is another book that I started 2 years ago and it's about time I finish it. Some of my Sarah books are signed, I did meet her and pictures are up on my insta.

I also started this book awhile ago and I didn't like it but I'm going to give it another try.

This is the only book that I haven't started but I'm excited to finish this duology.

I also left myself room and time in case I want to do any rereads at any point within the month. I just got back into reading and I'm trying to take it slow. i usually start with a reread because I know I'll love the book and I'll pick one of my favorite books or series but I've noticed I never make a plan for the month as far as a TBR so this month I decided to and I hope to finish these and I hope to have a great reading year. I usually read whatever I'm in the mood for but I wanted to start fresh because I don't want to get into a reading slump. My TBR is ambitious for me at this time but I'm excited to read these titles this month.

I'm also doing 3 challenges on instagram this month, I haven't done them in awhile either but I think it will be so much fun.

Currently Reading

I'm currently reading City of Heavenly Fire and thoroughly enjoying it, I'm so excited to finish this series and I'd love to continue to Cassies other series since she has written so much about this world and the awesome characters. I finished the 2 other previous books in the series and that's what gave me the idea of finishing other books/series that I had started.

March Wrap up

I reread this one because I wanted to finish the series right at the end of the month and the only thing I remembered about this book was the ending and nothing else. I mean the ending is hard to forget. Rating 4 stars.

I reread some of this book as well, only the beginning. This was my favorite book I've read in 2019, it was so good and I love Sebastian. I mean now we all know that I love villains since I confessed I love the Darkling, lol. Two of my favorite characters of all time. Rating 5 stars.

I found out about this book when I first saw the trailer of the movie, it's out now but I wanted to read the book first. I was super excited to read this book! I thought the plot was amazing, but the characters and writing fell short for me. 

Rachel the main character was an alcoholic who would black out and couldn't remember what happened most of the time. Other characters were just as flawed, nothing wrong with that because it made them more real. I didn't like that at some points of the story was told in Anna's point of view which was Rachel's ex- husband's new wife. That was unnecessary in my opinion because I really hated her and I was probably supposed to. 

In this story nothing is what it looked like. My first psychological thriller and I loved the plot and I think that for me that's what made this book so good for me. Many aspects I didn't like but overall this book was one surprise after another. Many secrets and betrayals, and an ending that I didn't see coming. The whole time I was reading I just wanted to know what was going to happen next! And in the end I was flying through the pages because it was so good. 

This book had so much potential to be so much better, but because it was so repetitive and characters that I couldn't relate to, couldn't connect with and the writing I gave this book only 3 stars.

I was very intrigued to read this book and everything that was being said about "The Darkling" and it was all true. He's wonderfully gorgeous, tempting, has a super cool power but he's very, very evil. I feel like he could have been redeemed if someone would have loved him and been his companion. He lived for so long and he was so lonely, he just wanted to be accepted, and maybe if he did have someone then the story would have been different. I don't think there was enough of him, I want to know more, I want to experience more through his eyes. I loved this story, I fell in love with the Darkling and I want to have his babies except he's not a good person lol. But if he were just a little bit good that would be great. This is one of my all time favorite series and the Darkling is my favorite villain if you couldn't already tell.

While reading this trilogy I felt like I dove right into it, I wanted to be part of it because it was written so well. The characters were memorable, the plot was well thought out and the world was amazing.

I wish that somehow Leigh could resurrect the Darkling and give him 5 more books at least, he thought he was so lucky that he found Alina and that she was so much like him but it didn't work out. We as readers need more of him.

I love this book so much. It is the book that I have re-read the most at about 10 times. It takes me about a day to finish and I am totally addicted to it. I am obsessed and here's why. 

In the beginning Abbi was very focused on leaving her past behind, making new friends at a new school, and passing her classes. Travis is a bad boy in every sense of the word, the tattoos, he fights in the underground cirle and is a womanizer. When Abbi and Travis became friends they decided to do a bet, if Abbi won the Travis would have to be celibate for a month, but if Travis won then Abbi would have to stay at his apartment for a month. So you can guess what happened there. Since Abbi is Travis' first friend that is a girl no one knows what to make of their friendship at the beginning. 

I really liked the way their friendship grew, how they opened up to each other as they spent more time together. They changed for each other and became better for it. Their relationship on the other hand was very different, they were moody and scared to lose each other. When they're together and happy everything is good but when they're not together and they fight, the whole world comes down with them. I also loved their back stories and where they came from, their parents' stories, and who they were before they met each other.

My favorite character is Travis and that's why I keep coming back to read this book. He's beautiful and gentle, he cares so much about Abbi. I feel like this is an epic love story for me because of the special way Travis feels about Abbi. To love someone with such intensity and devotion is amazing. I like books that make me feel a certain way and this one makes me feel all mushy inside lol. I absolutely love the way he shows his love for her.

I didn't like Abbi at times, I thought she was a bit selfish; she had a goal and damn anything or anyone that would get in her way. So because of that I didn't agree with some of her decisions, and poor Travis had to pay for it. 

Also in the end when something happened and suddenly they're off on an adventure, that was surprising. 

I can't say enough about how much I love this book and how amazing it is. I think everyone should read it! I hope this review gives this book justice because when I love a book as much as I love this one it takes me forever to review. Just know that it's amazing, go read it and read the rest of the series.

So now you know how much I love this book, so here's what I didn't like about it.

I didn't get enough of the romance that I wanted between Travis and Abbi, there was something always getting in the way. There was more time of them being apart then of them being together. I loved their relationship so much that I wanted more of it!

I also didn't like that at Thanksgiving dinner Travis was saying how he would still want her as a friend if she won't have him any other way. OMG! He was telling her that he did wanna be with her but if she didn't wanna be with him then he'll take her friendship if that's all he could get. He needed her in his life so bad he would say and do anything just to keep her around. Poor Travis what he went through because of that little misunderstanding. I just wanted to shake Abbi and make her open her eyes and tell her that there's this super awesome guy that is devoted to you and worships the ground you walk on still wants you after you've left him so many times. I think there's absolutely nothing wrong with needing someone like you need to breathe, do you? Lol. To me it's not only about the little things, it's about the whole package and Travis certainly is. 

I also thought the ending was kind of abrupt; the fire, and then "let's get married!" that surprised me. But I'm glad they got married, I didn't think that it would happen so soon and that Abbi was the one to propose. I wasn't surprised that Travis already had the ring, I think he bought it when he found out he loved her, which was probably when she moved in or before that. All I know is that he fell fast and hard and forever.

Review:
I loved this series so don't get me wrong cause of this rating. I just think that the villain in this story got what he deserved, I don't think it was enough. Dornan tortured Juliette so much and made her go through hell several times, so I don't understand how he got such an easy death. Yes she killed all of his sons that did her wrong but he should have suffered more.

I was addicted to this series and I read it as each book was released and it's taken me this long to review it because I was so disappointed with the ending. I feel like in all the other books Dornan's sons died in creative ways and he didn't. I also think that all the other books were building up to Dornan's death it fell flat for me unfortunately.

In this book Celeana becomes Aelin and it was great to read about her growing experience. And we also met rowan which I have heard so much about. Much more happened in this book, I mean it was huge, but those were the main points in my opinion. Sarah's writing and plot is really good as usual, so captivating and original. This was my favorite book in the series and I have to say that I'm totally obsessed with this series and I get what the hype is about Sarah who is amazing as a person and an incredible author.

Celeana was sent to Wendlyn where the Fae live on the orders of the Kind of Adarlan. She needs some information from her aunt Maeve, but in order for her to get to her she has to use her magic. So throughout the book Celeana is trying to master her magic by being trained by Prince Rowan, who was sent by her aunt. And Rowan does not want to be there! He hates that he has to train her at all. Celeana and Rowan treat each other sooo bad, the things that he would say to her were so mean. He had to get a rise out of her to see what would make her magic come out.

So as she's going through training, we get to see what Dorian and Chaol are up to back at the Glass Palace. And we are also introduced to a few new characters like Manon who is a witch, she's not even supposed to have a heart. So she shouldn't have an compassion or sympathy for anyone. But I felt like I didn't get to see her in action to see what she was really like instead of just saying how she was. Like in Throne of Glass, Celeana was this badass assassin but it wasn't really shown.

The King, I hate him, he's so evil. In the end of this book is where we learn exactly how much of a monster he really is. To what length he's willing to go to keep his kingdom. He doesn't care about anyone but himself and has no problem sacrificing anyone who gets in his way. He's a true villain through and through. He's written very well as a cunning bastard and we are all meant to seriously dislike him. 

I really love this series and this book was the start of my absolute admiration for the stories that Sarah has written. I can't to find out what more awesomeness is in store for me in the next books. I'm already reading Queen of Shadows and it's immediately amazing, there's no waiting for the action.

I thought the ending was beautiful how Rowan was completely devoted to Aelin, I think he redeemed himself from the beginning. I mean these too hated each other for just being themselves. Rowan didn't want to be training some future Queen or who knows what and Aelin didn't want anyone training her and getting in the way of her plans. I mean it was brutal, the things he would say to her were so messed up like you should have just died cause you're worthless. Omg just so mean.

When Rowan & Aelin joined powers was epic! How he came back for her and trusted that they were meant to join, it was just so special and like nothing I've read before. She could set the world on fire. Yes! It's about time Aelin, show me what you've got! I wanted to see her powers in action and boy did I. When she showed up at her aunt's throne and just lit the whole island on fire, that was amazing. You show her Aelin!

I hated that Rowan cant go with her back to Adarlan with her! I want more of him! Is her going to be in Queen of Shadows at all? What the hell man? Lol. It just got good between them and then they have to be apart, that sucks.
