Book Description:
He’s as dark and
dangerous as the storms he once commanded…and she can’t get him out of her
heart.
Dru has spent two thousand years fighting to keep the people of Terra Noctem
safe. In all that time, she's only opened her heart to one man, with disastrous
results. But when her city takes in a group of renegade Fallen, she finds
herself drawn to the brooding and tormented Meresin, despite the fact that he
seems to be the least redeemable of them all. When his instability hits a
breaking point, Meresin’s only chance at survival is a perilous journey into a
place from which few ever return. What he never expected was that confronting
his demons would mean risking not only his future, but Dru's as well...and that
one stubborn vampire might give him back not just hope…but his heart.

Kendra's Post
A darkly
romantic city, like something out of a fairy tale, deep underground. A small band of fallen angels, marked for
death by Hell and now reluctantly working for Heaven. And of course, vampires. These are the ingredients of my Hearts of the
Fallen series, and I’m excited to be spending the release day of the second
book, THE DEMON’S DESIRE, with you!
The stories in
my series all involve Terra Noctem, the magically protected underground city I
mentioned. It’s a place right out of
fantasy, a protected city carved from stone and the heart of the supernatural
world just out of sight of our own. It’s
ruled by Justin, the vampire king, who is assisted by a council made up of leaders
from their respective races. It’s
generally pretty peaceful…or, well, it was, until they gave a bunch of unruly
fallen angels sanctuary. And in this
story, the problems one fallen angel has brought with him endanger Terra Noctem
in general, and one vampire in particular—Dru, the sister of the king.
I love Dru. She’s strong, savvy, an instrumental
behind-the-scenes force to be reckoned with in the governance of her city and
her people for two thousand years. And
despite all the struggles she’s been through in her long life, she’s never lost
her sense of humor and appreciation for simple pleasures. The one thing she’s wary of is romance. She was badly burned by it once, and the
lesson she took from that episode was that eternal love is fraught with too
many problems to even attempt it. Her
solution, since she’s not a particularly solitary creature, has been to take
only temporary human lovers who are no danger to her heart. And her resolve on that issue never cracked
until the day Meresin of the Fallen walked into Terra Noctem.
Meresin is a
character who intrigued me right from the start, before I had written a word of
the series. All of his brothers have
what you could politely call “issues,” since, let’s face it, it takes a lot to
get to the point where even Lucifer is taking an active interest in wiping you
from the face of the earth…especially when you’ve spent thousands of years as
one of his loyal lords in Hell. Meresin,
though, is singular even among the outcasts.
He has the power of lightning, able to hurl bolts of destruction at
anyone who threatens him—and he often feels threatened, which has created big
problems in the city. He’s volatile,
moody, quiet, and tormented by the secrets of his past. The one person who seems to be able to get
through to him is Dru. She frustrates
him, fascinates him, and that goes both ways.
But Meresin knows he has even less to offer than his fallen brothers,
and has made a point of keeping his distance, not just from her but from
everyone. That is, until he’s presented
with an ultimatum from Heaven that will make or break him. Forced to accept Dru’s help, Meresin slowly discovers
that he may have a future worth fighting for after all. The only question, as he and Dru make a
harrowing journey to confront his past, is whether it’s already too late.
Thank you so
much for having me here today, and I hope you all enjoy the book!
Isn't she awesome? A way better description that I could ever right haha. Thank you for a great post!
My Review
I really enjoyed this book. This is the second book I read from Kendra and I love her books. Characters from the previous book were mentioned but some didn't make an appearance, but I still liked that they were included. This book is the a companion novel but also in the same series if that makes sense. I feel like this is a Beauty And The Beast retelling almost. There's this really powerful Demon/Fallen Angel that is crazy dangerous. He has no regard for his life let alone anybody else's. Meresin has the power to command lightning and boy did he like to zap people (particularly vampires that pissed him off). Ever since Dru kissed him as a prank one time, he's bound to stay away from her, but what he doesn't know is that she liked the kiss just as much as he did. They both have feelings for each other but can't find the courage to tell each other. There is a steamy sex scene but I think it was also sweet. I liked the adventure Meresin and Dru went on, it helped them figure themselves out and also learn about each other. I also liked the end, I think it was sweet and perfect for them.
5/5 From me because I couldn't stop reading it, the story was so interesting and I really fell for the characters. I love how they felt about each other and how it all came together in the end.

Book Description
The road to Hell is paved with good intentions. At least, that's how it seems to Sofia Rivera when her attempt to help a friend ends in a blood-soaked confrontation with creatures that aren't even supposed to exist. With a group of rogue vampires determined not to leave a single witness to their violence hot on her heels, Sofia finds herself saddled with an immortal bodyguard—Phenex, the fallen Angel of Song.
While the vampire king roots out the corruption threatening to take down his underworld kingdom, Sofia will have to deal with a fallen angel whose dark beauty is often at odds with his ornery nature. Slowly, Sofia and Phenex give in to the strange attraction neither can deny. And as the darkness closes in around them, Phenex begins to wonder whether even the wickedest Fallen might find his own happy ending...and his heart.
About the Author:
Kendra Leigh Castle
was born and raised in the far and frozen reaches of Northern New York, where
there was plenty of time to cultivate her love of reading thanks to the
six-month-long winters. Sneaking off with selections from her mother’s
vast collection of romance novels came naturally and fairly early, and a
lifelong love of the Happily Ever After was born. After graduating from
SUNY Oswego (where it also snowed a lot) with a teaching degree, Kendra ran off
with a handsome young Navy fighter pilot and has somehow accumulated three
children, three dogs, and one enormous cat during their many moves.
While stationed in
a remote corner of the Nevada desert, Kendra penned her first romance, and a
career often spent working in fuzzy slippers and pajamas was born. Her
work has garnered both critical praise and award nominations, but the best part
has been connecting with readers who share her love of dark romance (not to
mention heroes with sharp, pointed teeth). Kendra currently lives in
Maryland, and can usually be found curled up with her laptop and yet another
cup of coffee working on her next book. She loves to hear from her
readers, and can be contacted

My Review
This book is the type of book I love to read! It was so great and I really enjoyed it. I read it in two days, it was so addicting and I. Could. Not. Put. It. Down. I was so impressed with Kendra's writing, I hadn't read anything from her before and I was totally floored. This was the first angel book I've read. I love how Kendra doesn't focus on the villain(s) that much, yes they're there but in the background. Sofia has to be protected against vampires who want to kill her because she witnessed her friend being bitten by one. Phenex, a fallen angel watches over her from afar until a vampire gets too close and that's when Sofia finds out she was being watched by someone that's trying to kill her and someone that's trying to protect her. Sofia remembers him from the bar she went to where she heard him sing. She felt an impossible attraction to him. I could only imagine what it would be like to hear an angel sing. Anyway, lol, the characters were funny at times; I heard myself literally laughing out loud. I liked the fact that each of the angels could turn into animals, that was interesting. Phenex could obviously turn into a phoenix and one of his brothers could turn into a snake.
The romance between Phenex and Sofia was great, they had intense chemistry but there's always the question of how permanent the relationship would be since he's immortal and she's mortal. Phenex wanted to be with her forever but Sofia didn't want to be anything supernatural; and there comes the problem and the disagreements.
Oh my God the ending of this book was so sweet and beautiful and I could not get enough of it. Sofia awakened so many different feelings in Phenex, it wasn't just love; it was things he hadn't experienced in a long time and it was so endearing seeing someone come out of his shell and what was left was someone so beautiful. I really have no words and I can't even do it justice. It was just utterly amazing. 5/5 stars, I recommend this book to every adult because there is come adult content.
Thanks again to Kendra for her post and check out these books among others that she's written. I can't wait to read more of her books.
