Author: Jessica Verday
Series: The Hollow Trilogy Book 1
Source: Bought, Hardcover

When Abbey's best friend, Kristen, vanishes at the bridge near Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, everyone else is all too quick to accept that Kristen is dead…and rumors fly that her death was no accident. Abbey goes through the motions of mourning her best friend, but privately, she refuses to believe that Kristen is really gone. Then she meets Caspian, the gorgeous and mysterious boy who shows up out of nowhere at Kristen's funeral, and keeps reappearing in Abbey's life. Caspian clearly has secrets of his own, but he's the only person who makes Abbey feel normal again...but also special.

Just when Abbey starts to feel that she might survive all this, she learns a secret that makes her question everything she thought she knew about her best friend. How could Kristen have kept silent about so much? And could this secret have led to her death? As Abbey struggles to understand Kristen's betrayal, she uncovers a frightening truth that nearly unravels her—one that will challenge her emerging love for Caspian, as well as her own sanity.  (Synopsis)

“Spectacular! The Hollow keeps you reading from beginning to end without coming up for air.” --L.J. Smith, bestselling author of The Vampire Diaries and Night World (I had to include this blurb, I love The Vampire Diaries!)

                                                                     Review

This book starts off really sad at Kristen’s funeral, where Abbey does not understand why they're having this event because Kristen was not found so Abbey still has hopes that her friend is still alive. I was so rooting for Abbey! When she meets Caspian he helps her cope with her recent loss. As she finds out secrets Kristen had hidden from her, she wonders how close they really were and that their friendship was not what she thought.

This story is about love, loss, friendship, and betrayal. I really liked this book, although very sad, as Abbey tries to deal with her situation but also very hopeful as her relationship with Caspian blossoms. This was the second series I read and I loved it, I re-read it last year and it was just as good the second time. I thought the characters were relatable and the plot really drew me in. I love that it ties in with The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.

I give this book 5/5 stars! I loved it. When I bought the book I didn’t know it was part of a series, but when I found out I emailed Jessica and she told me the whole series was available. So awesome! I bought it right away because I had to know what was going to happen next. I recommend this book to fans of the Immortal series by Gillian Shields. I read these two series back to back and I love their similarities.

  1. Great review! I tried to read this one a few years ago but just couldn't get into the story but maybe I'll give it a try again someday.
    Happy reading :)
